This is entirely up to you. If you can, go for 24 hours. If not, we recommend leaving it open for at least 12 hours.

How do I set up a guest account?
Here's a tutorial for Movable Type. I don't know any other blogging systems, but if you would like to provide a tutorial for a different blogging system, let me know.

1. From the main menu, choose "Add/Edit Weblog Authors"
2. In the "Add an Author" form, enter a username (such as "guest"), email address (usually the blog owner's address), and password (such as "freeforall")
3. Associate the author with your blog by checking the appropriate checkbox on the right-hand side
4. Click "Save"
5. Set the guest account's permissions. Your guest poster will need permissions to post, and optionally to upload files.
6. Click "Save"
7. Logout of MT and log into your newly created guest account and make sure it works correctly

For this meme I get to set the rules - but I don't know what I should tell people. Can you give me a few example rules?

What should I post to tell my readers that i'm participating in Free-For-All Friday?
Here's a sample post that outlines the basic details that you should incude. Use this as a guide and make your post your own.

Today is Free-For-All Friday! Free for All means you can post whatever you want on my blog. Say what you want to say, share a link, complain about household appliances, etc...all you have to do is login and post!

Here's how to do it:

1. Go to http://www.mydomain.com/mt/mt.cgi
2. Login/Password: guest/freeforall
3. Click on "New Entry" on the left
4. Enter a title, make the category "free for all"
5. Type what you want to type in "Entry Body" and if it's really long you can also use "Extended Entry"
6. When you're done, change "Post Status" to "Publish", and click "Save"

Rules:

1. Please keep it somewhat clean...if you don't think I would post it, don't. God forbid if I find spam or porn links...
2. Feel free to link your blog...just make sure you say who you are. (sign your post)
3. I reserve the right to edit/delete inappropriate posts (or those with really obvious spelling mistakes)
